We all know by now that we should be drinking plenty of water. I’m sure you’ve heard it so many times it sounds like a naggy reminder that’s become somewhat of a cliché. When handing out health and beauty tips, people always advise to “drink plenty of water” as if that’s groundbreaking. But, we all know how important staying hydrated really is for keeping our bodies running optimally. Although it’s completely valid and practical advice, staying hydrated is actually easier said than done if you’re not crazy about drinking water.
This is why I love drinking iced herbal tea. It’s the perfect solution to getting in more hydration for my people that also get bored of plain water. With some added lemon or fresh mint leaves, you get that flavor and enjoy drinking it without any sugar, additives or any other bullshit. It’s basically just herbal water. I mean that’s what tea is, duh.
By Failing To Prepare, You Are Preparing To Fail
So here’s how I make my water intake easy and fun. I throw a bunch of loose leaf tea- butterfly pea and hibiscus tea are some of my favorites- in an electric kettle filled with water and boil that at night. I then pour the infused water into a glass pitcher, refrigerate and voila! Not only is this a great hack for staying hydrated but it also provides antioxidants and minerals. It’s great for your immune system, hair, skin and nails.
Every morning, I fill my 30 oz. Yeti with ice, pour in the iced tea with some fresh lemon slices and sip from my favorite reusable silicone straw. This lasts me until late afternoon so staying hydrated while working is easy and convenient. And it’s heavenly. There’s something so soothing and nurturing about sipping on herbal water while you work. Keep a pitcher of iced tea in your fridge on deck at all times and I’m telling you, you’ll get the hydration you need without getting bored of chugging water.
Fun Additions So Staying Hydrated is Easy
Things you can add to your herbal tea are: mint leaves, lemon, honey (make sure to mix this when the tea is still hot), dried herbs such as lavender and thyme, citrus peels and flavored extracts. You can get creative and have your spa water every morning. Staying hydrated is now a tiny way you can add some zen to your life. It’s the small, productive things we find joy in that sets ourselves up for success.
